Our sunflowers are blooming.

Have you ever been mining? We recently went for our first time.

These are some of the flowers in our front yard. The pansies are ones that we planted. The rest came with the house and this being our first Spring here, we've been enjoying the surprise every time another plant starts blooming! Posted by Hello

It's hard to see in this picture, but there are five baby birds in this nest. Two little House Finches built this nest at the top of one of the pillars on our front porch. We suspected there were eggs, because the mama bird sat up there all the time. Then we went on vacation and when we got back, there were these little babies. Now we've been back 2 weeks and all the little babies have grown up and moved out- leaving the empty nest. We had a lot of fun watching them grow. Posted by Hello

We had a great vacation in Orlando! We left on May 27 and came back on June 4. Even though it rained most of the time we were there and we didn't get to go to the beach (aside from a quick stop on the drive down) we still had a lot of fun. We went shopping, played miniature golf, ate at the Hard Rock Cafe, played pool, swam in the pool, and had lots of visitors! We girls even got in a day of scrapbookin' !! There were always at least 9 of us there, so we all kept each other busy. Ah, vacation....is it over already?? Posted by Hello

We went down to visit Lisa and Mike on Friday/Saturday. The guys and Kelly played Frisbee Golf while Lisa and I stayed at the house crocheting and knitting. Then we all went out for Mexican (yum!) and then looked at some houses that are being built. After that, we went to Sonic for some ice cream (double yum!). When we got back, Jordan took a nap while some of us played Scrabble- which Brian won! It was a fun day! Then the long drive home.... Posted by Hello

Now that the weather is warm, we've decided to tackle the yard. David has been working on some drainage for our front yard. We've been getting a giant puddle around our front steps every time it rains. Meanwhile, I've planted a few flowers...the Pansies in the picture, some Sweet Pea and a few Sunflowers. It is fun watching them grow, and I am keeping a close eye on them because I don't have much of a green thumb. We had rain again today, which might help them out. I also got a Creeping Phlox, but I haven't planted that one yet. We've had our birdfeeder out back for a while now and we have regular visits from about three Titmice, a couple Chickadees, two Carolina Wrens, a pair of Cardinals and a Nuthatch. There was a new bird out there today- I haven't identified him yet. We've also gotten a few visits from a squirrel, but we're trying to keep him out of there! I've still been knitting quite a bit, and am almost finished with my third baby blanket. This one is quite a bit more dainty than the two I've made before- it's turning out to be very pretty. I got my new Jean Greenhowe pattern books a week or so ago and when I finish the baby blanket, I'll be trying some dinosaurs! Our washing machine decided to give us a scare on Wednesday- it just up and died! It made an awful burning smell and refused to drain the water. However, it was no match for SuperDave, and he soon had it in good working order again. Whew! Well, that's about it for now- more updates later... Posted by Hello

Send mail to your future self!

Ok, cleaning up the house you come across 'put aways', 'give aways' and 'throw aways'. What if you find an item that can't be thrown away, can't be given away, and theres no real good place to put it away. What if you could mail it to yourself 5 years in the future. It wouldn't take up room, and wouldn't get broken or lost. One day, you come home and its sitting on the porch. Open it...bring back some good memories and either mail it off again or keep it around. Send all your anniversary gifts ahead of time. Send yourself some extra spending money. Is there such a thing?

Find that pin in the carpet!

Another idea for making tons of money...

Have you ever dropped a pin, small screw, jewelry and spent time down on your knees looking for it? Just pick up the compact handheld metal detector and it directs you immediatly to your lost item. What about a ring that is missing. Don't disasseble the sink without checking it with the detector first. Need extra money - wave it over the couch or the laundry basket.

Rachael's Birthday party was great. Thanks everyone for coming.
